cabo love - riddim sampler

“Cabo Love Riddim” is the latest one-riddim sampler from One Camp Records. It was produced by Elijah Salomon and Mamadou Saidou Barry.

The sampler brings together established and up-and-coming artists such as L3xicon, Didi, Big Zay DM, Diha Trawally, Elijah Salomon, Angel Doolas and Mike Brooks. The riddim blends dancehall with influences from Cabo Love and zouk, making it the perfect soundtrack for the summer. The five tracks exude a warm, contemplative atmosphere. Meanwhile, “Dounia” by Diha Trawally and Big Zay, as well as “Me Nah Know” by L3xicon, take the riddim in different directions without losing its laid-back rhythm.

To go with it, there’s the Dancers-Video, in which the Kizomba star couple Akram & Sara dance to a mega-mix of the songs.

Music Is Life - Riddim

The “Music Is Life Riddim” is a profound piece of music produced by swiss producer and artist Elijah Salomon. The raw wounds of a youthful heartbreak can be felt in the original score by Elijah. Listening to Elijah’s ‘Sie Isch Wäg’ (which means ‘She Is Gone’ in swiss german) still stirs the soul more than a decade after it was first released. This timeless riddim has been resurrected by a new generation of singers who have found their own unique grooves in the sounds of this masterpiece.

Jamaican artist Sycorah blends effortlessly with the essence of the riddim. In “Tell Me How You Feel” she asks the person she fell in love with if what she is feeling is true. A personal and intimate song that makes you feel very close to the talented and upcoming artist from Waterhouse.
Ras Charmer delivers with the title track: ”Music Is Life” a song that speaks of solidarity and shows that music heals wounds and is the best medicine. The message is underlined by a beautiful video clip in the green hills of Jamaica.

With “Jah Lebt” (Jah Lives) the German crew Raggabund is chanting that “Jah” is real and alive and that we shouldn't be intimidated by anything. The music was recorded by the Swiss backing band ”The Dubby Conquerors”. “Music Is Life” indeed has come full circle because this riddim is as emotionally and sonically relevant as it ever was.

The “Music Is Life Riddim” EP will be released on December 17th 2021 on the Swiss label One Camp Records and is available on all download and streaming platforms.

TAPALAPA Riddim final.jpg
tapalapa - Riddim

The well known bread from The Gambia, Tapalapa, has gone from the dinner table to radio airwaves as well as fans hearts thanks to Elijah Salomon and the One Camp Records team who produced the riddim of the same name!

Fresh from the oven, the Tapalapa riddim features some of Reggae’s best stars and brightest talents. Initially released last year with two singles; one from Queen Ifrica (“Ask My Granny) which appeared on her landmark album Climb, and Elijah (“Do Good in Life”), fans immediately responded with approval. From Jamaica, to Zimbabwe, Kenya and the UK, listeners made it clear they wanted more. Taking to YouTube, fans wrote comments such as ‘loving the vibes’ and ‘where can we get more?’ One Camp Records answered their calls! “We knew we had a big riddim on our hands based on feedback to the two songs, so we had to bring artists to the riddim who would tell a good story.”

The riddim came about when Elijah was recording his album ‘Eat Ripe Fruit.’ He was jamming with the Dubby Conquerors on new ideas, and the riddim hit immediately. “When Johnny Marshall from Bucktown 61 heard the riddim, he said ‘we have to make this a juggling,’ and the rest as they say is history!”

Artists on the riddim include Exco Levi whose song “Bawl Blood” speaks to the ramifications of gun violence, and Mr. Tie whose song “Wife Her” tells the tale of a Man who immediately knows the Woman he just met is the one! Additional vocal performances come from Sophia Brown “Only Jamaica,” foundation artist Mike Brooks who now lives in the UK sings “King Man,” and upcoming artist from Gambia, Jah Ringo, performs “By My Side.” De Luca is the guitarist for the band and contributes “Bella Bionda” (the only Italian song on the riddim which means ‘pretty blond one.’) while the special dub mix of the riddim is done by Joe Ariwa and the Duppy Conquerors.
